Quality Manual for e-Learning
The idea of the Quality Manual for e-Learning The Quality Manual (QM) for e-learning is a tool for developing quality in e-learning. It aims to give a wider perspective on quality management in e-learning by identifying contents and methods for quality management work. The main goal of the contents of the Quality Manual is to provide tools to enhance teaching and learning. The e-learning Quality Manual: - helps to build up quality management systems in the university and its departments
- offers phases for planning e-learning and a checklist of quality aspects for teaching and digital materials
- helps to describe the role of e-learning support services
- gives a quality framework for cooperation between teachers and support personnel in planning and implementing e-learning
- helps the department or faculty to take a broader view on quality management
- helps in allocating resources and the development of skills
The Quality Manual is developed on the basis of the most common quality management systems (ISO, BSC, EFQM, TQM). However, it does not rely totally on any of the standardized systems. Similar aspects from all of the abovementioned quality management systems were taken and applied to the higher education and e-learning contexts. The project aims to concretize the aspects of quality management, and give guidelines and tools for everyday improvement of quality in e-learning. Quality Handbooks There are four quality handbooks in the Quality Manual: Handbook of Online Courses, Handbook of Online Resources, Handbook of Online Support, Handbook of Learning Organisation (see fig. 1). They all contain five aspects and three phases of e-learning quality management. The five aspects are: management, skills, resources, processes and evaluation. And the three phases are: describing the present state of e-learning, building up quality, and maintaining and developing. Go to Quality Handbook for Online Courses
